I work for the USGS Geological Survey LandCarbon project in Denver, Colorado. The inland waters team recently completed a regional assessment of aquatic C fluxes in Southeastern AK, and the estimate totaled 76.7 g m2 yr-1 (95% CI, 55.7, 110.2). Coastal carbon export and river CO2 emissions represented the majority of the flux. We would like to have better datasets of pCO2 and gas transfer velocities to reduce the uncertainty in river CO2 emission estimates. We would also like a better representation of total C concentrations in rivers and improved surface water maps for low order streams. With these improved datasets, we might be able to get a better sense of the spatial and temporal variability of terrestrial C loading to streams.
